NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF INVESTIGATION

Vero isn’t just ‘a model in a beautiful building’, she is a projection; someone once worked at this institute and remembered a woman. The building ‘remembered’ her and recreated her. She looks perfect, her outfit is impeccable, but she doesn’t belong here. This is also reflected in her body, her poses and her facial expressions.

A female scientist who could be either a real person or a figment of memory. In some shots, Vero appears ‘normal’—working, reading, standing at the blackboard; in others, something is slightly off: she appears double, becomes blurred, or shows up in places where she shouldn’t be (a reflection in the glass when she isn’t in the room). Such a fine line between reality and a phantom.
The Ocean reads people’s memories and creates ‘guests’ = exact copies of those they loved. The film’s heroine looks absolutely real, but something is subtly off; she herself doesn’t know whether she is real or not.
